Made it to Johanesburg. Family did pretty well on the flight considering that we flew 1/3 of the way around the planet. My wife and I got seats up front. Minions were a couple of rows behind. Enjoyed the steak and watched Bohemian Rhapsody , Bumblebee and part of Gaurdians of the Galaxy. Tomorrow we fly Mango to Durban. Picture uploads are slow.

Durban, my home town! Ushaka Marine World is a good time for the family, make sure to get yourself a Bunny Chow (the quintessential Durban street meal of curry in a half a loaf of bread). Also be careful at night because the city can get a bit sketchy, but your hotel will be able to give the most current advise regarding safety concerns.
Edit: OH also Sharks are playing at home! If you want to go see a rugby match you should be able to get tickets!

Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink.

Unfortunately we are spending much time in town. We head to a game lodge pretty much after we land. I had heard of bunny chow though. Sounds good.

We did some wiggles due to storms/turbulence, but that was basically it.

On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane at an altitude of 20 feet. The flight lasted 12 seconds and covered 120 feet. Your flight cruised at about 31,000 feet, lasted 15.5 hours at a speed of 562 mph and covered 8,6 00 statute miles on a single tank of gas .
We’ve come a long way in 115 years.

Enjoy your trip. I've survived that flight in the past, but totally worth it for the adventures that followed.

Way back when I flew to Jo’burg, the plane stopped in the Cape Verde Islands. It was actually pretty nice to be able to get off the plane and stretch, although the airport was nothing to write home about. To give you a sense of when that was, Toto’s “Africa” was being being played on the 747's new music audio channel. None of this Weezer cover business. ;)

I was going to blame you for our short delay today, but it seems you’re off the hook. We flew ATL-DTW and had to wait for some parts that needed to be hauled up to Detroit. Only about 1/10th the flight you took.
